The Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway (HSR) started operation on Thursday, cutting the travel time between the two Indonesian cities to 40 minutes from 3.5 hours.
Sales of tickets for commercial operation will start in early October. From now to the end of September, people can enjoy a free ride experience after booking with Kereta Cepat Indonesia–China (KCIC).
As a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative and pragmatic cooperation between Indonesia and China, the 142-kilometer-long Jakarta-Bandung HSR, with a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, connects Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, and West Java Province’s capital, Bandung.
