Karachi, 24th March 2024 (Ittehad): Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Hon’ble Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh visited Port Qasim Authority on 24th March 2024.
Federal Minister was received by Chairman Port Qasim Authority and other members. Hon’ble Minister was briefed about the mandate and day to day affairs of the Authority.
Addressing the meeting of PQA officers, The Minister said, Asia is progressing fast than any of the region in the world, however, Pakistan is deprived of that progress and has been unable to reap the fruit of progress, hence, we all have to play our part in the revival of the economy.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister cited China’s example of how they took out 60 crore of it’s population from poverty level. He deplored that still 95 million people of Pakistan are below the poverty level, therefore, he stressed the need for efforts to revive the economy.
The minister highlighted the importance of PQA and it’s role in the country’s economy. He informed the audience about the industrial zones being charted out in PQA where multinational companies can establish world class Industries. Moreover, to boost trade, he told that dredging of the channels is being completed and berths are also being updated to facilitate the large ships at the port. In addition to this, other projects such as terminals, industrial zones, berths, additional channel are also under consideration for the revival of economy through this port.
During his visit, the Minister also planted a tree at Port Qasim Authority Karachi.
